Knysna kayaks
Posted by Dermot Hudson on 10 September 2009Knysna will shortly commence manufacturing kayaks relating to an order that I have organised. If anyone is interested in purchasing a Knysna kayak through my order please provide the following details:
a) model b) construction type - specify for hull and deck c) seat type: platform v normal and construction type d) rudder system - pedals v t-bar; overstern v understern e) colour - specify for hull and deck f) length to footbar - measured from the middle of the back of cockpit to the left or right side of the front of the footbar
For prices / weights etc please refer to the following post:

Some other pointers from Knysna: It's difficult to use peddles with a pullbar - pullbar at the back or with a T-bar works well - but not with peddles - should rather think of using a pull strap.
Re: the epoxy vacuum construction - not good for rivers - Len Jenkins wins our Fish river marathon every year in this boat - but if you hit any obstacle it could be the end of your race.
Deck must have pigment => please choose a colour for the deck.
Re: seat options - see attachments for pictures. The third is the normal river seat. The fourth is the sprint seat adapted for use in rivers - the third and fourth can be interchanged. The others are platform seats - works without a seat pin and on a platform which is glued into the boat.
Footrest -
Knysna can make an adjustable foot rest but only if used with a T bar - this will add weight and will look like the systems on our skis. The seat gives the movement for the paddler.
The peddle foot rest as per the pictures on the Knysna website allow for 12 cm adjustment - however, you need to undo the cables (2 screws each side) and fasten them again - there is extra cable to do that - the flange on the side of the boat will be an irritation - so if the peddles are adjusted - it is better to cut the piece of flange off so it does not hurt your feet. Much better to get the foot rest where you need it and only adjust the seat.
In carbon epoxy vacuum the boats are only available in WHITE hull and deck. Trim line and cockpit can be any colour.
We are not allowed to export Think skis. I will have to get permission or I will have a similar ski (not a copy but similar in stability)available soon.
Attached is the paddle price list. Also 20% discount on these prices.
