LOWER LIFFEY RANKING MARATHON RACE Saturday10thSaturday Start: Salmon Leap Canoe Club, Leixlip @ 12:00 Finish: Garda Rowing Club, Islandbridge Distance: 9 mileS Courses: Starting as above Grade 2-3 7 weirs, 1 Portage (Leixlip dam) Rescue will be provided at each hazard. Entries from 10.00 hrs @ Salmon leap Canoe Club. Fee: Seniors €10 per seat Juniors €5 per seat ICU Marathon Rules apply. Both the long and short course are over fast moving water and weirs and while substantial rescue will be provided paddlers should be competent (Level 3 ICU standard ideally or equivalent) . This is the final rough water race over a substantial part of the Liffey Descent course giving paddlers the opportunity to practice the weirs in high water in preparation for the Liffey Decent on 10th September 2011. Classes include Long course: K2, Div 1 and Div 2 Short Course: K2/T2, Canadian, Div 3, Div 4,Mens GP, Womens GP, Girls GP, Boys GP A novice course will be run from the Garda boat club up to Chapelizod and back down – about 2 miles in length, all on flat water ideal for a newcomer to the sport, entry of 5 Euro regardless of class or age
